‘A’ rated Windows give us , as customers, the reassurance of certified scheme approval of our windows. Having ‘A’ rated windows installed improves the energy-efficiency of your home, reducing the amount of energy you use and helping you to save money on your heating bills. Keeps your house warm all year round at a lower cost.
These windows are significantly more effective than existing single glazing or standard double glazing and are Energy Rated Windows manufactured to European quality standards – crucially they meet the requirements for building regulations concerning energy efficiency of homes. Since October 2010 legislation demands that windows have a minimum Window Energy Rating of band C.
Window Energy Ratings greater than band B are recognised by the Energy Saving Trust as part of their Energy Saving Recommended scheme. ‘A’ rated windows also look fantastic . They are low maintenance and an energy efficient window installed by Branco is is manufactured, installed and approved by a certified company.
At Branco Windows and Doors we always guarantee an ‘A’ rated window which is 100% weather resistant and which will protect your investment in the long term.

Those of us with years of experience fitting windows know that expired silicone will not cure and that a mess is created as a result. Silicone decays over time and
reduces energy efficiency. Put simple, it’s shelf life is limited. Installation using silicone takes longer and is inefficient. When installing windows and doors on a
rainy day silicone products cannot be guaranteed to seal properly. Water gets into reveals, silicone goes on top and doesn’t bond – what happens then is that air
leakage and damp occurs. This becomes obvious a few months after installation when the nightmare scenario is that your window expands and contracts in sun and the
poorly installed window gets pulled away from the wall.
Silicone has no acoustic sound properties. This means that if we order an acoustic window and the decibel reading is lowered (to 39 db) using acoustic glass and we
then proceed to install with silicone the sound travels through the reveal and the window acoustics are rendered obsolete. In this case inefficient installation has
ultimately let down the window. Unlike Silcone, trio tape has an acoustic value of 6odb. Silicone has zero and has no ‘a’ rating – for this reason we cannot
efficiently install sound proof windows with silicone.
At Branco Windows and Doors we use trio tape at all times when installing our windows ensuring an ‘A’ rating and a performance to match.

As the technology driving the development of contemporary energy efficient windows continues to advance it is absolutely vital that we keep up to speed and guarantee energy efficiency through the use of highly advanced sealing products which insulate and protect joints while simultaneously ensuring no loss of energy.
At Branco Windows we strongly recommend the use of Illbruck tape and sealing products as part of a successful and thoroughly energy efficient window installation. Investment in energy efficient windows produces long term savings on energy costs.
By sealing the corners of the new high performance windows the benefits for the customer can be maximised. Every bit of our twenty years experience in the Window business tells us that following best practice in installation delivers a superb return from new ‘a’ rated windows
In contrast, normal practice traditionally was to seal windows with old fashioned silicone which decays over time. ‘A’ rated window installation requires weatherseal, thermal insulation and air tightness around the window which maintains the windows ‘a’ rating.
Illbruck TP651 trio tape is a multi functional tape which provides a weather and airtight seal as well as thermal insulation. An alternative approach is to provide a weather seal using illbruck duo tape and an air seal using illbruck pro fam air seal.
Firstly, this leads to faster installation by up to 20% – it also provides a far cleaner installation also with far less mess than a silicone installation. Illbruck pro foam air seal is applied to give a comprehensive all round seal as thermal insulation is an absolute requirement for an ‘A’ rated window. This tape expands to completely seal up gaps between wall and window giving unrivalled protection from the harshest of weather elements.
This installation process ensures that:
We have an ‘A’ rating and performance guaranteed.
Window surround is thermally insulated.
Installation is 20% faster and weather tight.
Provided clean sight lines and protected the customers investment.
